A dire situation takes The Last of Us' Ellie on a mall walk down memory lane, in an adaptation of the prequel game Left Behind that introduces Riley.
In its seventh episode, HBO's The Last of Us introduced Riley Abel, a key figure from Ellie William's past in the Boston Quarantine Zone, by adapting the prequel expansion game The Last of Us: Left Behind.
Storm Reid, known for her roles in A Wrinkle in Time and Euphoria, portrayed Riley in Ellie's Bostonian flashbacks as the pun-loving survivor worked in the present to heal Joel Miller in Wyoming. While HBO's The Last of Us has altered its source material and expanded on its post-apocalyptic world, "Left Behind" provides a fairly faithful adaptation of the game expansion from which it derives its title. The episode caught audiences up on the events of Ellie's life that led to her meeting Joel and discovering her immunity by losing Riley.
