The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death of an 81-year-old man who was attacked by a group of pit bulls as an accident.

And the wife of the man arrested in connection with the attack has spoken out to apologize while insisting that her husband is not at fault.

Ramon Najera was killed Friday afternoon after three dogs got loose from their West Side yard and attacked him, public safety officials said. His wife, Janie Najera, 74, was also mauled by the dogs and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
