Police were conducting a probe after a juvenile student and a substitute teacher on Monday morning ended up on the floor in a classroom after a fight broke out between the two at Rocky Mount High School.
Police in a news release said that they along with Nash County Public Schools received information about an assault between the unnamed student and fill-in educator Xaviera Steele.
Steele has been with the county’s public school system for about a year, police said.
